The town has a few hotel options -- Mado, GRALTA, and Posada del Rey-- that are conveniently located in the downtown area. We recommend staying at either one of these three, if you will not have access to a rental car, or finding an Airbnb that is also located in the center of the city (near the cathedral and the plaza).
How do I get to Jalostotitlan? What are the best airports to access the town?
The two closest airports to Jalostotitlan are in Guadalajara, Jalisco and Leon, Guanajuato. The airports are equidistant, so either airport can be convenient, and you can choose whichever one offers the best flight options. From the airport, there are a few transportation options: buses, taxis, and potential ride-share and shuttle options (more info to come regarding the latter).
What are my options to get from the airport to the town?
1.) Bus: This is the cheapest option ($10-15 per person), but will require that you take a taxi from the airport to the bus station. From there, you can purchase a ticket to Jalostotitlan. The total travel time can be about 2.5-3 hours by bus.
2. ) Taxis: As you exit the airport, you can take a taxi from the airport all the way to Jalostotitlan. This option is pricier ($70-90 for a car) but will get you into the town in about 1 - 1.5 hours.
3.) Ride share: Uber is available in Guadalajara, but it may be difficult to get matched with a driver all the way to Jalostotitlan. If you're able to get a ride, the cost is also pricier ($100-120), and will also get you into town in about 1 - 1.5 hours.
Do you recommend a rental car?
Jalostotitlan is a small town that can easily be navigated by foot. However, if you are planning on spending time in other parts of Jalisco and Guanajuato that are nearby-- such as Guadalajara, Tequila, San Miguel Allende, etc., this could be a great option for you. You can pick up a car at the Guadalajara airport, and then return it when you fly out.
